Haifa Perl Mongers meeting: Perl on Android and what is new in Perl 5.12 ?

The next meeting of the Haifa Perl Mongers will take place on 28 April, 2010 in the offices of Qualcomm, Haifa which are located in the Omega building south of MATAM. Talks start at 18:30 but I'll be there earlier.

The main subject of the meeting will be using Perl on Android based mobile phones. Android is the Linux based mobile operating system developed by Google. There are many mobile phones and various other mobile devices running it. The main language that is used for writing applications for it is currently Java but Android also allows the use of various dynamic languages such as Perl. In this talk we'll see how Perl can be used to program Android based devices.

The talk will be given in tandem by Sawyer and myself.

If you would like to setup a development environment for you, please bring a notebook and we'll help to set it up for you. Please also bring and Android based mobile device :-).

After that, Shmuel Fomberg, the organizer of the meeting will give a short talk about what is new in Perl 5.12.

Please send an e-mail to Shmuel indicating that you are planning to come to the meeting.
